Chloé Pre-Fall 2011

Chloé never fails to surprise me. For it's Pre-Fall collection, Hannah MacGibbon's color choices was very different from the all-beige clothes we've seen from the other seasons. The yellow shirt and skirt, corduroy pants, and trousers was a refreshing view while still maintaining the minimalistic feel of MacGibbon's creations.

Yuletide Outfit

For last-minute outfit-thinkers:

With Christmas just a few hours away, a surefire way to rock this holiday is to wear a basic sequin number. It may be worn over a waisted pants, like the one on top, or high-waisted denim shorts. A plain dress would be much simpler but more striking. Enjoy the holidays! Cheers!

Androgynous Andrej

Since starting his career at the age of 17, Andrej has caught our attention because of his a.) looks, b.) his ability to pull of any clothes, and c.) his courage to be both Adam and Eve. Pejic who is mixed Serbian and Croatian had walked for both men and women fashion shows, including Jean Paul Gaultier's, and men shows for Marc Jacobs. While millions of people would die for beauty, Pejic was blessed to have both the face of an XX and XY. In 2010, he signed up for Storm Models, and since then, his career just blew rapidly.

Andrej no doubt, is one of the prettiest models in the world. At 19 years old, he is standing six-foot-one, pencil-thin as always. Yes, he may be once a toilet cleaner for strip clubs, but look at how he has emerged. Somehow, his androgynous style has brought him fame and success. This year, he was featured for New York magazine's fall issue. My favourite quote from Andrej? "In this society, when a man is called a woman, that is the biggest insult he could get. But, you know, to me, it doesn't really matter."

Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2011 showcased brilliant coats (including the red-wine leather coat, which was a showstopper), knee-length skirts and dresses, and elegant trousers in bold colors. Unlike its Spring collection, it was much simpler but this season was an eye-candy. Good job Oscar!

Minimalism At Its Best

Debora Muller for Celine Spring 2011

Lara Stone for Calvin Klein Spring 2011

Anais Pouliot for Chacharel Spring 2011

"The world in the eyes of a classic minimalist knows none or little about prints, colors and embellishment. This is not to suggest that the movement lacks the ability to be creative. Instead, from the point of view of classic minimalists, the movement focuses on function, improvisation and purpose."
                                                                                                               -Bianca Salonga

Being a minimalist myself, I am Far from disagreeing with Salonga. It's overused but very important and inspiring adage,"less is more", continues to be the daily mantra of numerous people and famous designers from all over the world throughout the years. This technique allows people to create brilliant garments using limited  materials. Thus, minimalists are much more creative that those who are not.

Calvin Klein's Spring 2011 collection showcased airy and fluid masterpieces made of sheer fabrics in hushed colors that displayed grace and elegance which was a definite stroke of genius. Phoebe Philo, who has already mastered minimalism, continues to make to-lust-for and covetable pieces collection after collection. Her creation for Celine never fails to have the most basic garments and her signature two-toned pieces.

Chacharel's main inspiration for the Spring 2011 collection, colour blocking, was perfectly executed in the show. The candy-coloured dresses were such a refreshing view for the eyes while still maintaining the essence of minimalism in the collection.

From the elegant and flowy pieces to the one-toned pieces- minimalism has truly brought a new and exciting twist in the fashion industry. Fro decades, it has been the reason behind the rapid success of designers. Minimalism, no doubt, is a fashion ideology to be reckoned with.

The Chanel Paris-Bombay Pre-Fall 2011 was such a fantastic collection! The Grand Palais in Paris was transformed into an Indian-themed dinner party for the Métiers d' Art show. The Paris-Bombay the is a genius idea and this is one of Karl Lagerfeld's best creations so far. From the fierce make-up by Peter Philips to the embellishments and the colour palette- Lagerfeld just proved that he deserves praises for this. Congratulations Karl!
